Romeo burner freezes computer

Postby pastywhitegurl on Fri Jun 13, 2008 3:09 am

Hi,
Was excited to find your program on giveawaysoftheday.com and downloaded and installed it without any problems.

I was able to burn one CD from mp3 files without problems, except that it froze on the assessing of the file size function. I closed it, and started again and it successfully completed that function, and then burned my CD.

However, the next project I tried to burn, the program froze at the same point and would not resolve. I could not even close it with the Task Manager. I had to shut down the computer and reboot. Upon trying again, it still did not work. So I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. Same problem. Although it would get past the file size assessment, it spins the CD and counts off time like it is burning, but nothing is being written to the disk.

What to do?

Edit: this is interesting...after sitting there for 18 minutes, it has suddenly started to burn the CD. Why would it take that long to start? Also, every two seconds, an item is added to the screen that says "buffer underun condition happened". What is that about?

I am using Windows2000Pro, service pack 4, 523KB RAM.

Your computer has not enough RAM. Romeo creates a big cache in the RAM before start burning.
I could suggest upgrade your PC.

alas, I am told I cannot add memory to my old, cobbled-together system at this point. It is maxed out.

Is there anything I can do or settings I can adjust to help Romeo run smoother? I tried lowering the burn speed to 16x, but got just as many "buffer underun condition happened" alerts.
